American Wigeon Anas americana - Male in flight. Each autumn, a scattering of genuinely wild ducks from North America arrive here, blown in by Atlantic gales. Typically they associate with their most similar European counterparts. American Wigeon Anas americana (L 48-55cm) is similar to Wigeon but males have a green eyestripe, creamy white forehead and crown, and speckled grey face.
