Garden Carpet Xanthorhoe fluctuata Wingspan 19-24mm. An attractive moth that rests with wings spread flat, forewings covering hindwings. Adult has whitish forewings with a dark patch midway along leading edge, a small dark spot near the outer margin, and a dark head and ‘shoulders’. Multiple-brooded: flies April-September. Larva feeds on members of the cabbage family and nasturtiums. Widespread and common.
