116957 LESSER CALAMINT Clinopodium calamintha (Lamiaceae) Height to 50cm. Tufted, greyish perennial. Similar to Common Calamint but downier and more branched. Grows in dry grassland and verges, mostly on sandy or chalky soils. FLOWERS are 10-15mm long, pale pinkish mauve and almost unspotted; borne in whorls (Jul-Sep). After flowering, the calyx tube has hairs projecting from the mouth. FRUITS are nutlets. LEAVES are oval and almost untoothed. STATUS-Local, restricted to S and E England.
