DWARF RUSH (Juncus capitatus) Height to 5cm. Tiny, tufted annual that grows in damp, bare mud (often on tracks), usually near the coast. The leaves are entirely basal and soon wither; indeed, the whole plant soon turns reddish. The flowers are in a terminal cluster with 2 leaf-like bracts (May-June). The species is also found, locally, on Anglesey and the Channel Islands.
