ALPINE CINQUEFOIL Potentilla crantzii (Rosaceae) Height to 25cm. Hairy perennial of upland, rocky ground and mountain ledges. FLOWERS are 15-25mm across, the 5 yellow petals often with an orange basal spot (Jun-Jul). FRUITS are dry and papery. LEAVES are pinnately divided into 5 finger-like, toothed lobes. STATUS-Scarce and local in N Wales, N England the Scottish Highlands.
