Pallas’s Warbler Phylloscopus proregulus L 9-10cm. Tiny, energetic warbler whose active behaviour recalls that of Firecrest or Yellow-browed. 1st winter bird (plumage seen in Britain) has mainly olive-green upperparts while underparts are whitish. Note striking head pattern: dark eyestripe, bright yellowish supercilium, and pale median stripe on otherwise dark olive crown. Has two pale wingbars; pale rump can be hard to discern. Voice Calls include a soft tchuee. Status An Asian species that occurs here as scarce autumn vagrant (50-60 in a good year).
