141544 WORMWOOD Artemisia absinthium (Asteraceae) Height to 80cm. Highly aromatic, upright perennial that has silkily hairy stems. Grows in disturbed coastal grassland and on roadside verges and disturbed ground. FLOWERS are borne in yellowish heads that are 3-5mm across, bell-shaped and nodding; these are carried in tall, branched spikes (Jul-Sep). FRUITS are achenes. LEAVES are pinnately divided into deeply cut lobes that are silvery-hairy on both sides. STATUS-Locally common in England and Wales but scarce or absent elsewhere in the region.
