BRANCHES Ascending, with pendulous side-shoots. LEAVES Crowded, pointed needles with a green upper surface and a pale to silvery-white lower surface. REPRODUCTIVE PARTS Male flowers are small and reddish-yellow, female cones are narrowly ovoid with triangular-tipped scales. STATUS AND DISTRIBUTION Introduced into Britain from China in the early twentieth century, and now mostly confined to gardens and collections.
