Black Brant (Brent) - Branta bernicla nigricans L 56-61cm. Paciific northwest subspecies of Brent Goose.Compared to superficailly similar  Dark-bellied Brent Goose, plumage is overall darker, with black on underparts extending further back. White patch on flanks is more extensive and 'cleaner', as is marking on neck. A rare visitor to northwest Europe, usually found among flocks of Dark-bellied or Pale-bellied Brents.
