134911 Smooth Arizona Cypress Cupressus glabra (Cupressaceae) HEIGHT to 22m. British form grows into a neat, ovoid tree with blue-grey foliage often with white tips. In the wild (in Arizona) it is more spreading. BARK Reddish or purplish; falls away in rounded flakes in older specimens, revealing yellow or reddish patches. LEAVES Greyish-green, often with a central white spot; grapefruit-scented. REPRODUCTIVE PARTS Male cones are small, yellow and grow at tips of shoots. Female cones are oval, up to 2.5cm across when mature, and greenish-brown; scales have a central blunt projection. STATUS AND DISTRIBUTION Native to Arizona, planted in our region for ornament and hedging.
