Purple Heron - Ardea purpurea Wetland bird, associated with reedbeds in Europe but more general marshland habitats elsewhere. Breeds across temperate Europe and Asia, winters in southern Asia and Africa. Maroon and orange-buff plumage allow separation from Grey Heron.
