Lilac Beauty Apeira syringaria Wingspan 38-40mm. An unusual moth that rests with its wings are spread flat, the leading edge to the forewing folded; the overall impression is that of a crumpled dead leaf. Adult has angular wing margins and grey buff wings with pale patches and dark lines. Flies June-July. Larva feeds on various shrubs including Privet and Honeysuckle. Widespread but common only in southern Britain.
