WOOD MELICK Melica uniflora Height to 50cm
Delicate, creeping perennial of dry, shady woodland, often on chalk and under Beech. FLOWERS are borne in a loose, open inflorescence with brown, egg-shaped and stalked spikelets along the side branches (May-Jul). FRUITS are small, brown nutlets. LEAVES are pale green and lax. STATUS-Locally common only in England and Wales.
